Architektur-Besichtigungstag für Bauart

The first guided tour was of the SEK II Temporary School Building | KST FDü Empa Temporary Building in Dübendorf. As Switzerland’s largest modular school complex, this new facility – with the school buildings designed by Bauart and the sports facilities by Pool Architekten – is set to welcome 650 students this coming August 2026. Next, we were welcomed to the W-Wyden Modular School in Winterthur, with its concept of colourful spaces dedicated to classes from nursery to Year 6. This new development is based on the Modular-W type modular timber buildings already constructed in recent years for the city of Winterthur, and developed by Blumer+Lehman in collaboration with Bauart. This system is characterised by its great flexibility in terms of layout and volume.

The tour then continued to the new Guggach school complex – north of Zurich and designed by the Basel-based firm Weyell Zipse. The central multi-purpose space forms the beating heart of the school, evolving with the seasons and school events. The day concluded with a visit to FOGO (Zurich Altstetten), a joint project by the Einfach Wohnen SEW Foundation, the specialist organisation AOZ and the youth housing network Juwo. Designed by Hoimann Fontana Architekturen, this space combines accommodation for refugees and young adults in training with dining facilities, small shops, and cultural and educational activities.

Many thanks you to our guides and everyone involved!
