A modification of the highway access road generates a new square along the Reuss. This strategic urban planning intervention makes space for building an emblematic construction of 33 x 33 x 40 meters, which brings together all premises of the University of Lucerne. The building’s heart comprises an important library, organized on 9 levels around a spacious central void. The several auditoriums generate transversal volumes, whose orientation towards diverse attractive features of the landscape creates a strong link to the city.
