Description

Due to the high demand for school space, a temporary gymnasium built using wooden modular construction will be completed in Dübendorf by 2026, accommodating 650 students. This project is part of a framework agreement concluded by the canton in 2024. The project in Dübendorf includes two three-story school buildings, connected by an open intermediate structure, as well as two sports halls. These were designed in 2020/21 by Pool-Architekten as part of a separate tender process. Access to the school buildings is provided via a central longitudinal corridor, to which rooms are connected on both sides. The façade cladding, made of delicate wooden slats, interacts with the light wave panels of the sports structures. The recessed joints emphasize the horizontal and vertical module connections. A differentiated color concept gives each of the two school buildings a distinct character and lends the entire ensemble a site-specific expression.
