The building morphology harmoniously suits the context and create an urban pole by bringing together the three innovation buildings around the existing green park. An architectural dialogue with the buildings of EPFL and CSEM is instituted through specific bands presenting a favorable inclination to capture solar energy. In a quest for synergy, a special attention is paid to shared spaces, thanks to the reinforcement of the public park and also the atrium in the new building favoring to collaborative work. Multiple ecological approaches give here substance to the notion of low carbon architecture: limitation of excavations, bioclimatic wood construction, renewable energies, solar skin for roof and façade (BIPV), management of rain water, green space favorable for sociocultural interrelations, biodiversity and limitation of heat islands.
