The Attisholz site is a distinctive place with an exceptional location quality that radiates in all directions. The proposed design creates a vibrant ensemble between old and new, drawing its strength and identity from the existing industrial architecture. The pioneering residents of the Kocherei do not live in a faceless suburban housing development but rather in Attisholz, where they seek a unique living experience shaped by the site's industrial charm. The project is based on the idea of restoring the Kocherei to its original form and freeing it spatially. In parallel, a bold new structure, the "Unité d’Attisholz," is introduced. Together, these two buildings define a green transition space that serves as both a connecting and meeting area, ensuring an appropriate level of porosity across the site from east to west. All apartments benefit from the site’s prime location and contribute to the identity of this shared threshold space.
