Renovating, repurposing, and transforming existing buildings to meet contemporary challenges, while valuing the resources used in their construction and maintaining the continuity inherent to building culture.

«The administrative building at the head of the Montbijou bridge was, from the outset, a true vessel: thirteen storeys, six of them below street level. Its transformation into a residential building by Bauart is a fine example of what can be achieved with the abundant and ageing office real estate from the second half of the 20th century. (…) As one takes a final look at the view before leaving, it is hard to believe that what has been achieved through this conversion might never have happened. Perhaps that is what defines a successful transformation: enhancing the existing to the point that the former state becomes inconceivable.»

«The Ecoparc neighbourhood and the Europaplatz are successful achievements because they have deepened and amplified the potential of the city’s existing character. The Gangloff site is not Detroit, Microcity is not Bangalore, and Waldstadt Bremer is not Singapore. These are tailor-made developments, legible without ostentation and comprehensible to the people of this country.»
