Starting in 2024, around 3,500 people will work on the former industrial site "Meielen Nord" in Zollikofen. This 41,000 m² area is one of eight well-connected locations in the Bern region where, according to the Swiss government's 2024 accommodation plan, large administrative units will be consolidated. The connection to Zollikofen’s northern train station is provided by a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge integrated into the local pathway network. This passage creates a high-quality, aesthetically refined route and visually links the campus landscape with the railway and industrial infrastructure. A defining feature of the bridge is its railing made of rust-brown Corten steel. This element reflects the appearance of the adjacent railway tracks, acknowledges the site’s industrial heritage, and blends harmoniously into the simple and nature-oriented outdoor design.
