In recent years, the demand for classrooms, kindergarten spaces, and after-school care facilities has grown significantly in the city of Zurich. The "Züri-Modular" school pavilion by Bauart was developed in 1998 as an evolution of the "Modular-Thun" school pavilion, initially designed for the city of Thun. In 2012, the "Züri-Modular" was adapted to meet increasing spatial and energy efficiency requirements. This second generation offers 10% more floor area (10 modules per floor instead of 9) and complies with the Minergie standard. The modules of this updated version can be stacked up to three stories high. Thanks to its modular construction using spatial cells, the "Züri-Modular" can be dismantled, transported, and relocated to new sites. To date, approximately 60 pavilions and over 1000 modules have been built in Zurich, with additional pavilions planned by 2025.
