Due to the high demand for school space, a temporary gymnasium in modular timber construction will be built in Dübendorf by 2026, accommodating 650 students. This project is part of a framework agreement concluded by the canton in 2024. It includes two three-story school wings connected by an open central structure, as well as two sports halls. The latter were designed by Pool Architekten in 2020/21 as part of a separate competition. Access to the school wings is provided via a central longitudinal corridor, with rooms branching off on both sides. The façade cladding, made of delicate wooden slats, interacts with the translucent corrugated panels of the sports buildings. Recessed joints emphasize the horizontal and vertical modular connections. A differentiated color concept gives each school wing its own identity, lending the entire ensemble a site-specific character.
