Architecture in dialogue with the landscape – fragmented volumes and a fine-grained network of green paths shape the new neighbourhood.

A new ecologically oriented neighbourhood is taking shape in the southeastern part of the municipality of Echallens. The design is rooted in a careful reading of the surrounding context, including the high quality of the landscape and the character and grain of the existing built environment. This sensitivity to context is reflected not only in the overall urban form, but also in the layout of pathways, the definition of outdoor spaces, and the architectural expression of the four planned apartment buildings. These buildings are arranged at varying angles and consist of differently sized volumes, combined with a nuanced sequence of public spaces. The landscape design contrasts clearly with the built structures, offering generous green spaces and a fine-grained network of alleys, pathways, and trails.
