The Stadelhofen Cantonal Secondary School – Empa Dübendorf Branch was officially opened on 18 August 2026: A start to the new school year unlike any other for some 220 students and the teaching staff, who were discovering for the first time this modular timber structure which will eventually accommodate 650 students.

Comprising 250 specialised timber modules, this new school – currently the largest school building of its kind in Switzerland – meets the growing need for teaching space in the canton of Zurich. Designed by Bauart and built by Blumer Lehmann AG, this project – which took 15 months to complete and whose sports facilities were designed in parallel by Pool Architekten – meets high standards of functionality and sustainability.
