A wooden hybrid building, structured by prefabricated modules, redefines space in the station neighbourhood.

ModularityHousingTimber constructionCompetition

The defining element of the station district, the loading ramps, serves as a reference for the new building and forms the base for the five-story hybrid timber construction. The first two floors are set back on the neighborhood side, reinterpreting the spatial arrangement created under the expansive overhang of the adjacent Zollhaus within the new residential building. The main structure consists of a combination of prefabricated components that organize the floor plan: between programmed, highly equipped modules that fulfill both structural and technical functions, spacious, open-through areas are created using slab and façade elements. On the western side, an open, greened access gallery establishes a connection to the vast railway landscape.
