A modular timber building complements the existing heritage-protected complex, which includes five Variel pavilions from the 1960s designed by Swiss architect Fritz Stucky. The staggered two-story new building aligns structurally and volumetrically with the existing pavilions while deliberately maintaining a restrained architectural expression and a finely detailed façade. Inside, color and wood take center stage, creating a warm and inviting learning environment. The extension provides the school with space for a cafeteria, childcare facilities, a music room, and a support class. A unique feature of the project is the outdoor classroom on the upper floor, offering a versatile area for various activities. The new building was completed and put into operation in just 16 months, including the competition, planning, and construction phases.
