The new building complements the listed school complex from the 1950s and forms a boundary to the south of the school site. To match the scale of the existing buildings, the extensive program is divided into two volumes. These two wings are connected by a multi-story open intermediate structure, which serves as both an arrival area and a covered break space. The accessible roof of the two-story wing can be used as an outdoor classroom, a student garden, or a sheltered break area. The Schlossmatt timber modular building represents a new generation of school construction in Burgdorf. In line with the principles of the circular economy, the modules can be dismantled and reused at another school site.
